St. George Madrid Student Takes Part in Forbes Talks x ISP to Explore the Future of Learning and Education

Our studient Juan Trolia took part in the second edition of Forbes Talks x ISP, an event held at Forbes House that brought together students from ISP Schools across Spain

Organised by Forbes and ISP Schools, the event gave students the opportunity to speak directly with one of Spain's leading neuroscience researchers, exploring topics ranging from concentration and stress management to the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on education and the future of work.

Juan Trolia, a student at St. George Madrid, took part in the second edition of Forbes Talks x ISP, an event held at Forbes House that brought together students from ISP Schools across Spain to engage in a thought-provoking discussion with neuroscientist Nazareth Castellanos on learning, decision-making and the challenges of an ever-changing world.

Learning How to Learn for the Future

Under the theme "Lead Your Future: Learning How to Learn", the event encouraged students from across ISP Schools to reflect on the skills that will matter most in the years ahead. Beyond academic knowledge, adaptability, critical thinking and self-awareness will be essential qualities in a rapidly evolving world.

During the discussion, Nazareth Castellanos explained how the brain continues to develop throughout adolescence and how healthy habits such as getting enough sleep, exercising regularly and maintaining a balanced diet have a direct impact on our ability to learn, regulate emotions and make informed decisions: "That's why it's so important during this stage of life to take the best possible care of our bodies through healthy eating and regular exercise, while also keeping our minds constantly stimulated through learning so that we can become the best version of ourselves" she explained.

St. George Madrid Student Joins the Conversation

Nazareth Castellanos described how the brain naturally automates routines. As a result, when we become used to interrupting our study sessions to check our phones or other distractions, the brain starts to seek out and repeat those patterns. She explained that breaking these habits and building healthier routines can significantly improve concentration and make learning more effective.

Later in the discussion, Juan Trolia contributed to the conversation about the growing impact of AI on education and young people's future careers. Castellanos encouraged students to see AI as a tool designed to support people rather than replace them, while emphasising the importance of developing uniquely human skills such as critical thinking, creativity, empathy and self-awareness: "You are the first generation that will fully experience the transformation driven by AI. But you should see it as an opportunity to grow. Remember that you are in control of AI—not the other way around. That's why it's so important to develop your critical thinking, take time to understand yourselves, and look after your mental wellbeing to avoid anxiety and frustration."
