At St. George Madrid, we develop a high quality international education programme based on the British curriculum with an emphasis on global perspectives and a strong multilingual foundation. Our international school in Madrid welcomes students from 2 to 18 years of age in an environment that fosters academic excellence, respect, creativity, and intellectual curiosity.
Located in a tranquil setting just north of Madrid, we provide an exceptional educational experience where every student is valued and can develop to their full potential.
Our British curriculum follows the British National Curriculum, which has been adapted to our international and Spanish context. It is taught entirely in English by qualified native English teachers, guaranteeing in-depth linguistic and academic learning. From the Early Years to the International Baccalaureate programme, each stage is designed to develop the intellectual, social, and emotional skills of our students.
The curriculum is structured into EYFS (infant), Key Stages 1 and 2 (primary), Key Stages 3 and 4 (secondary), and finally the Sixth Form programme, which leads to the prestigious International Baccalaureate programme (IB Diploma Programme). This educational approach allows for a smooth transition between stages, ensuring a continuous and coherent education that opens the doors to the most prestigious universities in the world.
Infant education at St. George Madrid begins with total immersion in English at the age of 2. Through the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) programme, children explore, play, and learn in a fully English-speaking environment, allowing them to acquire the practical use of the language in a natural and spontaneous way.
Our infant approach focuses on the development of the whole child: communication, motor, emotional, and social skills. With the close attention of our native teachers, children feel confident, happy, and motivated to learn from day one.
Throughout the Primary stage, our pupils follow the British curriculum with a practical, student-centred approach. As a British primary school, we prioritise the development of key skills: reading, writing, maths, science, art, physical education, and digital skills, which are all provided in English.
We encourage autonomy, collaboration, and critical thinking from an early age. In addition, pupils learn Spanish as a second language, which provides them with a truly bilingual education featuring British and Spanish system equivalences recognised by both education authorities.
At the Secondary level, pupils take the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education), which is an international examination recognised by universities and employers around the world. This phase, corresponding to Key Stage 4, allows students to study subjects of interest and specialisation in greater depth.
As part of our secondary provision, our students combine core subjects with electives in areas such as science, humanities, modern languages, and technology. This rigorous preparation lays the foundation for higher education and forms an essential part of the academic maturation process.
The IB Diploma Programme is the core of our Sixth Form programme, and represents the final stage of the educational journey at St. George Madrid. This highly valued programme enables students to develop analytical, investigative, organisational, and global thinking skills.
During these final two years, students choose six subjects and complete key components such as the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS). Thanks to this holistic approach, our graduates stand out for their preparation, maturity, and adaptability at university and beyond.
We are formally accredited by the NABSS as a British National Curriculum school, recognised by both the regional education authorities and as an IB school.
We are a school formally recognised and accredited by NABSS (National Association of British School in Spain) as a British National Curriculum school, which guarantees the quality and rigour of our teaching.
